The General Music Director of the Regensburg State Theatre, Stefan Veselka, will leave the theatre at the end of the 2026/27 season. The conductor wants to focus more intensively on his international career and appearances as a guest conductor, the State Theatre announced on Thursday.

"I would very much like to take on these exciting challenges, but unfortunately that is not compatible with the responsible position of General Music Director," said Veselka, who has held the position since 2023.

State Director Sebastian Ritschel expressed his regret at Veselka's departure, but said he fully understood his desire to pursue new challenges and career opportunities. "The collaboration with Stefan Veselka was and is very fruitful; the successes speak for themselves," the director stated.
