Nearly 96,000 visitors at the Leipzig Bach Festival
This year's Leipzig Bach Festival attracted nearly 96,000 visitors from 56 nations. That's about 20,000 more people than in 2025. "The response to this year's Bach Festival has exceeded even my wildest expectations," said Artistic Director Michael Maul at the closing ceremony on Sunday, adding: "It is the best proof of the incredible quality and timelessness of Bach's music."

Leipzig Bach Festival 2026
The 212 events at 30 venues in and around Leipzig were held under the motto "In Dialogue." The centerpiece was the "Top 50 Bach Cantatas" series. For this, more than 8,000 Bach enthusiasts from around the world voted for their favorite works. The resulting "hit parade" was presented in twelve concerts, performed by leading ensembles and conductors in Leipzig's sold-out Bach churches.
Next year, the Leipzig Bach Festival will take place from June 10th to 20th and will be themed "Passion". The year 2027 marks the 300th anniversary of the world premiere of the St. Matthew Passion.
