Bruckner Orchestra Linz confirms artistic director
The Bruckner Orchestra Linz (BOL) has permanently appointed its artistic director, Daniel Hochreiter. His indefinite contract will begin on September 1, 2026, the orchestra announced on Thursday. The 35-year-old has held the position on an interim basis since September 2025, when he succeeded Norbert Trawöger, who moved to the Linz event company (LIVA) in the same role.

With Hochreiter, the orchestra gains "an expert with high artistic competence, international contacts, a clear vision, and great creative power," said Thomas Königstorfer, the BOL's commercial director. "His professional expertise as a manager, his interpersonal skills, and above all, his versatility have deeply impressed me," added chief conductor Markus Poschner.
Hochreiter, a musicologist born in Wels, Upper Austria, gained his first professional experience with the Camerata Salzburg and the Salzburg Biennale before moving to the artists' agency Dr. Raab & Dr. Böhm in Vienna. In March 2023, he took over the management of the "OÖ. Stiftskonzerte" festival and the "musica sacra" concert series.
At the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, he intends to further develop proven strengths, introduce new initiatives, strengthen its national and international standing, and deepen its close ties to Upper Austria as a cultural center. His goal is "to inspire as many people as possible with the power and diversity of this wonderful ensemble.".
