The general director of the Chemnitz Municipal Theatres, Christoph Dittrich, will remain in office for another five years. The Dresden native (born in 1966) signed his contract extension until 2033 on Wednesday in the presence of Mayor Ralph Burghart (CDU), as announced by the city of Chemnitz. Dittrich has headed the five-genre theatre since 2013.

The artistic director has "decisively shaped the Chemnitz Theatres with his experience, his vision, and his close connection to the city," said Burghart. "I am convinced that with Christoph Dittrich, the Chemnitz Theatres will continue this successful path and continue to inspire audiences with outstanding productions."

Dittrich thanked them for their renewed trust and explained: "The past few years have impressively demonstrated the potential of the Chemnitz Municipal Theatres when artistic excellence, social responsibility, and the courage to embrace new ideas come together." He was convinced that the Chemnitz theatres were far more than a cultural institution; "they are a driving force for the cohesion, the appeal, and the future of our city.".
