The nominees for Best Director of Musical Theatre are Frank Hilbrich for "Rummelplatz" at the Chemnitz Theatres, Anna Weber for "Die Reise nach Reims" at the Bremen Theatre, and Matthew Wild for "Peter Grimes" at the Bielefeld Theatre. Further awards will be given to performers in dance, drama, and theatre for young audiences; for choreography; for productions in drama and theatre for young audiences; and in the categories of set design, costume design, media, and genre-crossing. In addition, the "Lifetime Achievement Award" and a "State Perspective Award" will be presented.

The Faust Prize will be awarded for the 21st time this year. The award recognizes cultural figures whose work is groundbreaking for German theater. It is presented by the Cultural Foundation of the German Federal States, the German Academy of Performing Arts, the German Stage Association, and a different German state each year. The winners are selected by a jury appointed by the Academy of Performing Arts.
