Tyrolean State Theatre extends contract with artistic director
Irene Girkinger will remain Managing Director of the Tyrolean State Theatre in Innsbruck until August 31, 2033. The shareholders' representatives – Tyrol's Governor Anton Mattle and Innsbruck's Mayor Johannes Anzengruber – extended her contract for another five years, the theatre announced on Wednesday.

This sends "a clear signal for continuity and continued exciting artistic development," said Mattle. Girkinger has been managing the institution since 2023. She expressed her gratitude for the trust placed in her and the audience. "Our aim is to lead this major cultural institution in western Austria into the future as a cultural beacon, ensuring artistic and economic stability and success."
