Vienna Philharmonic: Management team re-elected

The Vienna Philharmonic has re-elected its leadership team for a three-year term. At a general meeting on Friday, Daniel Froschauer was confirmed as chairman, the orchestra announced. Born in Vienna in 1965, the violinist has been a member of the Vienna State Opera Orchestra since 1995. He joined the Vienna Philharmonic in 1998 and has since served as principal violinist in both ensembles, and since 2004 also as section leader.

Double bassist Michael Bladerer remains managing director and cellist Bernhard Hedenborg treasurer. The management team has been in office since 2017 and has now been confirmed for a fourth term. Solo flautist Karl-Heinz Schütz was elected as the new vice-chairman.

"The election by the orchestra members is a confirmation of the successful course of the last three terms of office and a mandate to continue this artistically and economically in a consistent and sustainable manner," it was stated.

Founded in 1842 by Otto Nicolai, the Vienna Philharmonic is a self-governing association. The association's highest governing body is the annual general meeting. In addition, five to six extraordinary plenary sessions are convened each season.
