Dresden's Semperoper attracts more visitors
The Semperoper Dresden has reported an "extremely successful" conclusion to the 2025/26 season. The opera house announced on Tuesday that it attracted approximately 300,000 visitors to its opera and ballet performances, as well as concerts by the Staatskapelle Dresden. This represents an increase of 10,000 visitors compared to the previous season. Occupancy rates for core performances rose to around 97 percent.

Artistic Director Nora Schmid thanked the audience after her second season for the trust they had placed in her and the great response to the joint encounters, as well as her entire team, who had helped make this success possible.
For the upcoming season, the Semperoper plans nearly 300 performances, including eight opera and two ballet premieres, as well as 19 opera and six ballet productions from its repertoire. To mark the 200th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven's death in 2027, the opera house is planning the festival series "Beethoven 200&". Among other things, the legendary production of "Fidelio" by Christine Mielitz, which premiered on October 7, 1989 – while citizens were taking to the streets outside the Semperoper to demand democracy and human rights – will be revived.
