Four musicians from the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra have been appointed Bavarian Chamber Musicians. According to a statement released on Wednesday, Arts Minister Markus Blume (CSU) presented the award to Swantje Vesper and Peter Müseler (both horn), Ilian Garnet (violin), and Wen Xiao Zheng (viola).

"With this award, the Free State of Bavaria is not only honoring four exceptional talents, but also their formative role in one of Bavaria's most prestigious orchestras," said Blume at the ceremony on Tuesday. Bamberg's Mayor Sebastian M. Niedermaier (SPD) thanked the award-winning musicians for their excellence, which has made a crucial contribution to the symphony orchestra's reputation and to Bamberg's worldwide renown.

Swantje Vesper is a horn player with the Bamberg Symphony. Peter Müseler is the assistant principal horn player, and Ilian Garnet is the first concertmaster. All three have been with the orchestra since 2016. Wen Xiao Zheng has been the principal violist with the Bamberg Symphony since 2019, a position he previously held from 2010 to 2013.
