Berlin theaters have sold over 3.3 million tickets

Berlin's 42 publicly funded theaters and orchestras sold well over three million tickets in 2025. A total of approximately 3.32 million paying guests attended performances, the cultural affairs administration announced on Friday. The previous year saw 3.27 million visitors across 36 institutions.

"2025 was a strong year for Berlin's theaters," said Senator for Culture Sarah Wedl-Wilson (independent). The visitor numbers showed "the great enthusiasm with which people in our city attend our cultural institutions," she emphasized. She expressed her heartfelt thanks to the artists on stage, the ensembles in the orchestra pits, as well as the colleagues behind the scenes and the artistic directors of the theaters. "They all contribute with great dedication to ensuring that art of the highest caliber is created in Berlin, even in economically challenging times," the senator explained.

The Friedrichstadt-Palast had the most visitors – 508,284 – compared to just over 549,000 the previous year. It was followed by the Deutsche Oper Berlin with 253,411 guests (2024: 254,268), the Stiftung Berliner Philharmoniker with 242,521 visitors (2024: 250,710), the Staatsoper Unter den Linden (238,589 instead of 232,242), and the Rundfunk-Orchester und Chöre GmbH (201,998 instead of 180,252). The Komische Oper Berlin counted 169,869 visitors (2024: 172,755). The Konzerthaus Berlin had 156,449 guests, compared to 154,540 the previous year.
