Conclusion of the Telemann Festival 2026

The 27th edition of the ten-day festival was themed "Music - Power - Telemann". Approximately 500 artists from more than 30 countries presented 21 main events, including four staged performances, as well as lunchtime concerts, open rehearsals, school concerts, a junior masterclass, an international scientific conference, a film series, and city tours.

"The fantastic richness of Telemann's powerful musical language was impressively brought to life," said Carsten Lange, head of the Center for Telemann Studies and Research. "Outstanding interpretations thrilled the audience and made the festival a captivating event."

The Cologne-based conductor Michael Alexander Willens was honored with the Telemann Prize 2026 at the festival.

The next Telemann Festival is scheduled for March 10-19, 2028. Next year will see the Telemann Competition, which alternates with the festival and is this time open to historical woodwind instruments.

The composer Georg Philipp Telemann was born in Magdeburg in 1681. He died in Hamburg in 1767.
