About the interview

Zurich Singing Academy

The Zurich Sing-Akademie is distinguished not only by its high sonic and musical standards, but also by its great versatility and flexibility: in addition to collaborating with numerous outstanding orchestras both in Switzerland and abroad and maintaining a large symphonic repertoire, the professional ensemble regularly develops a cappella programs. A particular focus is placed on works by Swiss composers. Through the regular commissioning of new compositions and world premieres, it also makes a significant contribution to the development of the choral landscape.
Since its founding in 2011, the Zurich Sing-Akademie has already collaborated with numerous leading international conductors such as Bernard Haitink, David Zinman, Daniel Barenboim, Sir Roger Norrington, Pablo Heras-Casado, Neeme Järvi, Charles Dutoit, Giovanni Antonini, and René Jacobs .
Concert tours have taken the ensemble to Germany, Italy, Israel, the Netherlands, Lebanon, Taiwan, and China, as well as to various European capitals. Highlights included concerts at the BBC Proms in London, the Philharmonie de Paris, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Philharmonie Köln, and the National Concert Hall Taipei.
In addition to its long-standing close partnership with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the professional choir regularly collaborates with various renowned ensembles such as the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Basel Chamber Orchestra, the Musikkollegium Winterthur, the Munich Court Orchestra, and the Baroque Orchestra La Scintilla. Since 2017, Florian Helgath has been the principal conductor and artistic director of the Zurich Sing-Akademie.
