Schmid Daniel
He pursued a multifaceted career as a choir and orchestra conductor, Kapellmeister, and church musician. He founded the chamber orchestra I MUSICI GIOVANI in 1980 and the Aargau Cantorei, established a regional cantorial network, conducted the choir and orchestra of the University of Basel, the Southwest German Philharmonic, the Pilsen Opera Orchestra, and the South Bohemian Chamber Philharmonic, and has maintained a close relationship with the Budweis Philharmonic Orchestra as a regular guest conductor since 1995. A lover of musical theater, he conducted operas and operettas.
Daniel Schmid's symphonic and oratorio repertoire ranges from the Baroque era to the modern day. World premieres, CD recordings, and radio and television broadcasts document his extensive musical output.
Since 2001, he has been the cantor of the Evangelical Reformed Church. State Church of the Canton of Zurich, lecturer in orchestral conducting at the Zurich University of the Arts ZHdK and since 2005 cantor at the Grossmünster Zurich.
