Aargau Choir
The present-day "Aargauer Kantorei AGK" was founded in 1985 during the first opera production of the then-named I Musici Giovanni. Today, singers from various regions of Aargau participate, most of whom also sing in another choir.
The Kantorei aims to complement the work of other choirs. It offers ambitious singers the opportunity to regularly perform works with orchestral accompaniment.
The Kantorei's activities are concentrated in two cycles per year: concerts during Lent and Advent. The cantatas of J.S. Bach are a recurring feature of its programs. However, performers and audiences alike fondly recall performances of Handel's "Brockes Passion," Mozart's "Requiem" in the arrangement by R. Maunder, Brahms's "A German Requiem," and Verdi's "Missa da Requiem."
Rehearsals take place every Thursday from 7:30 pm to 9:45 pm in the Reformed Church Community Center in Buchs. We also usually rehearse once a month on Saturday afternoons.
