The Musikkollegium Winterthur is performing in Aarau. Under the direction of Andreas Ottensamer, the concert evening opens with Schreker's Intermezzo for String Orchestra, a work of ethereal, poetic sound. This is followed by Britten's Symphony for Cello and Orchestra, with the renowned Austrian cellist Julia Hagen performing the solo part. The evening concludes with Brahms's Symphony No. 2. Often referred to as his "Pastoral," it combines lyrical serenity with structural depth and powerful development – a mature masterpiece full of confidence and quiet grandeur.
