About the interview

Liestal Orchestra

Liestal Orchestra

The Liestal Orchestra was founded in 1896 as the Liestal Orchestra Society, making it one of Liestal's oldest associations.
We currently have over 45 active members, including all the string and woodwind players typically found in a classical symphony orchestra. Since November 2014, the orchestra has been under the direction of Roberto Fabbroni, a very talented conductor from Argentina.

Each year we perform two concert programs, playing works from all periods of orchestral music. In keeping with the instrumentation of a classical symphony orchestra, our focus is on Romantic and 20th-century music. We perform works from the great world literature, as well as lesser-known or even almost unknown, but worthwhile, compositions. We also regularly collaborate with young soloists and other ensembles from the region.
Our rehearsals take place every Wednesday evening from 7:30 to 9:45 p.m. in the auditorium of the Liestal Vocational School. Before each concert, we hold a rehearsal weekend, which also serves as an opportunity for camaraderie.
The Liestal Orchestra aims to enrich the musical landscape of Liestal and the surrounding area with its concerts. We don't limit ourselves to performing works by well-known composers; rather, we regularly undertake pieces that are rarely performed. Furthermore, it is important to us to introduce young people to classical music and give them the opportunity to contribute their talents to the orchestra.

Come to our next concert, become an active member, or simply be one of our friends.
