Since its founding in 1927, the association has strived to cover a broad spectrum of contemporary music through its concerts. Even a cursory glance at the programs of the ISCM Basel demonstrates that the concept of pluralism in new music is more than just a buzzword. It is no longer possible to summarize the goals of an institution like the ISCM in a concise aesthetic or programmatic statement of intent. Fortunately, in its eighth decade, the work of the ISCM Basel is driven by the idea of ​​presenting the broadest possible panorama of contemporary musical creation, where "pluralism" is perceived not as a burden, but rather as a delight in multifaceted richness and complexity.
This delight can only be realized through close collaboration with a wide variety of institutions, ensembles, organizers, and new music practitioners in Basel and beyond.
Arbitrariness and indifference are not the guiding principles of the volunteer board's work, but rather a committed curiosity and passion.
