Festival Afflatus
The AFFLATUS association's concept, unique in Europe, combines a musicological research center, a festival of musical rarities held in May and June in Sion and Sierre, and a publishing house.
The CRM (Center for Musicological Research) conducts research to enhance the musical heritage of Valais, Switzerland, and Europe. It organizes lectures, concerts, and seminars on applied musicology in Switzerland and abroad.
The festival presents unknown works from various periods through concerts with internationally renowned artists, exhibitions, and popular open-air events. Since 2025, in collaboration with SOVS-crescendo, it has organized the Charles Haenni Competition, dedicated to honoring one of the most important Swiss composers of the early 20th century.
The publishing house includes recordings of unpublished works from the 18th to the 20th centuries on original instruments, scores of unpublished works, a collection dedicated to the holdings of the Valais State Archives, and publications on musicological topics.
