About the interview

Oberaargau Concert Choir

The Oberaargau Concert Choir, founded in 1865, comprises around 100 singers and strives to present sacred and secular, well-known and lesser-known works to a wide audience. Vocal training and singing weekends are regular components of the choir members' education and professional development.
Markus Oberholzer has conducted the choir since 1993. Under his direction, the choir has performed works including Mozart's Requiem, Bach's Christmas Oratorio and St. John Passion, Verdi's Requiem, and Haydn's The Creation. The choir has also toured Hungary twice. Furthermore, the choir has rehearsed more recent works such as Orff's Carmina Burana, Honegger's The Legend of Nicolas de Flue, and Michael Tippett's A Child of Our Time. Since 2008, the choir has performed regularly as a member of the "ClassicFestivalChor" in the sold-out KKL (including with the Baden-Baden Philharmonic) and in 2011 toured all the major concert halls in Switzerland with the ClassicFestivalChor (PostFinance tour with Carmina Burana). In 2016, under the direction of Markus Oberholzer, they performed with the Württembergische Philharmonie at the KKL.
