The cantus firmus consort was founded in 2001 by conductor Andreas Reize. With a focus on the Baroque and Classical periods, the orchestra's repertoire extends into the early Romantic era. The concerts of the cantus firmus vocal ensemble & consort have been enthusiastically received by audiences and critics alike. The orchestra, playing on period instruments, comprises instrumentalists who, even during their studies, engaged intensively with the principles of historical performance practice and gained experience in internationally renowned early music ensembles. The instrumentation and instrumentation are adapted to the performance requirements of the repertoire from the 17th century to the early Romantic period. The consort performs both as an independent ensemble and as a complementary partner to the cantus firmus vocal ensemble

Since its founding, cantus firmus has presented highly successful a cappella concerts, passions, cantatas, symphonic concerts, and its own opera productions at Waldegg Castle. Invitations to the International Summer Academy for Early Music Innsbruck, Migros Clubhouse Concerts, and the Bach Weeks in Amsoldingen. His recording of J.-J. Rousseau's Le Devin du Village was released on the German label cpo and received excellent reviews from various international magazines.
