About the interview

Biel Seeland Concert Choir

The aim of our oratorio choir is to learn and perform the works of important composers for a discerning audience. Our motivation is singing and the joy of working together to create works from the classical concert repertoire at a high sonic level. The annual concerts at the Congress Hall are an integral part of Biel's cultural life.

The repertoire includes works by Handel, Mozart, Rossini, Haydn, Schubert, Mendelssohn, and Dvořák, as well as modern works by composers such as Szymanowski, Honegger, Martin, Kuster, and other important figures.

Since the founding of the current Biel Solothurn Symphony Orchestra in 1969, there has been a successful collaboration between the choir and the orchestra. In addition to joint performances with other choirs, such as last year's Swiss Federal Gymnastics Festival, the choir participates in choral festivals every few years, most recently in 2011 in České Budějovice, Czech Republic.

The annual open Christmas carol singing, held in conjunction with the Biel Parents' Education Association in the Biel City Church, has become almost a tradition.
