Bern Music College

The Bern Music Collegium is a purely amateur orchestra – only the conductor and concertmaster are professional musicians. Founded in 1909, the orchestra has evolved over the years from a salon orchestra into a symphony orchestra of considerable size and quality, contributing significantly to the musical life of the city of Bern. Today, it comprises around 65 members – all dedicated music lovers of all ages and professions. Would you like to join us? Get in touch! As an association, we are largely self-funded through membership fees and concert revenues. However, to realize exceptional projects, we also rely on the support of sponsors and patrons.

Three programs are rehearsed annually. The repertoire ranges from the Baroque era to the classical modern period, often featuring well-known works, but also including some lesser-known pieces that are being premiered in Bern.
