program

Archaic, traditional sounds meet a concentrated dose of groovy, swinging, rocking, contemplative, melancholic, and captivating playfulness.

The alphorn was originally an instrument of farmers and herdsmen, used to call the cows to milking on the alpine pastures. Like a spoken prayer, its archaic, resonant natural tones broke the silence and solitude of the mountain heights, delighting people so much that it gradually became a folk music instrument, played at social gatherings. Thus, the alphorn embodies, like no other instrument, both silence and contemplation as well as community, demonstrating how important togetherness and conviviality are for our well-being.

The Lochus Alphorn Quartet is a group of professional musicians from the enchanting heart of Switzerland who transcend the boundaries of traditional alphorn music and bring a refreshing diversity to the musical landscape. In addition to a traditional repertoire, they also perform many of their own arrangements and compositions. Their joy in playing and their experimentation with natural tones make this quartet unique. Various TV and radio appearances, such as at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, SRF Potzmusig, SRF DOK Typisch Volksmusik, etc., have made them well-known and popular.
