program

Georg Philipp Telemann played many of his countless instrumental concertos with unusual and surprising instrumentations. Sometimes the recorder and viola da gamba, or the trumpet and violin, would solo together. This imaginative combination of different solo instruments can also be found in Bach's famous Brandenburg Concertos, which continue to shine today with their compositional and technical virtuosity.

Program:
Johann David Heinichen (1683–1729): Concerto in G major, 7 instruments, S 215 (Andante, Vivace, Largo, Vivace); Georg Philipp Telemann (1681–1767): Concerto for Trumpet, Violin, Strings and Basso Continuo in D major TWV 51:D7 (Adagio, Allegro, Grave, Allegro), Concerto in E major for Flute, Oboe d'amore, Viola d'amore, Strings and Basso Continuo TWV 58:E3 (Untitled, Allegro, Siciliano, Vivace), Concerto for Viola da Gamba, Recorder, Strings and Basso Continuo TWV 52:a1 (Grave, Allegro, Dolce, Allegro); Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750): Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 in D major BWV 1047 for Recorder, Oboe, Trumpet, Solo Violin, Strings and Basso Continuo ([Allegro], Andante and Allegro assai).
