program

The jury was unanimous: The 2025 German Business Music Prize goes to the young baritone Jonas Müller! And so, the native of Lower Bavaria, born in 1999, was delighted not only with the €15,000 prize money, but also with this debut concert at the Lucerne Festival. Müller impressed with an intelligent program that – according to the jury's statement – was "characterized by authenticity and seriousness." He followed this same principle in his Lucerne recital. Under the motto "Somewhere in the World," he sang of wanderlust and homesickness, of dreams of love and loneliness – with songs by Franz Schubert and Robert Schumann, Gustav Mahler and Hanns Eisler. Six numbers from Eisler's Hollywood Songbook were performed as a contribution to the summer theme "American Dreams." Jonas Müller has already received numerous awards, including in a duo with his piano partner Anna Gebhardt. Since autumn 2025, the student of Christian Gerhaher has been a member of the Frankfurt Opera Studio, where he debuted as Guglielmo in Mozart's Così fan tutte. The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung praised his "vocal elegance and a subtle comedic touch."

The concert is part of the Kulturkreis tour, which enables the winners of the German Business Music Prize to perform at renowned partner festivals – including the Beethovenfest Bonn, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, and the Ludwigsburg Festival. The Kulturkreis's music promotion program is supported by G. Henle Verlag, the Peter Klöckner Foundation, and Dr. Arend Oetker.
