program

As the chalumeau, a reed instrument from the clarinet family, was almost disappearing from the stage of music history, Daniel Schubart wrote in 1784: "Its tone has so much that is interesting, unique, and infinitely pleasant that the entire spectrum of musical art would have a noticeable gap if this instrument were lost."
"Pastorella" offers clarinetists Joan Calabuig Gaspar and Álvaro Iborra Jiménez a pastoral idyll featuring the rarely heard chalumeau, reviving this sonic quality.
Joining them as vocal soloist is the 2024 Bach Prize winner, Lara Morger.
