VOCES8 explores the close connection between composers and the cities they lived in, focusing on Central European and Nordic cities, which reflected their artistic identities.
"Metropolis" offers a vibrant blend of cultural exchange, showcasing the close ties between composers and the cities they inhabited. From the Renaissance to the present day, major cities have provided fertile ground for musical innovation. We shine a spotlight on Central European cities with a foray into the Nordic countries, presenting composers from Lasso to Schubert and Stravinsky, as well as Eric Whitacre and Paul Simon in London. "Metropolis" reflects the artistic identity of the acclaimed vocal ensemble VOCES8: an ensemble itself based in one of Europe's most vibrant musical metropolises – London – from where it builds musical bridges across time and cultures.
