program
At its heart lies melancholy – a feeling familiar to us all. Inspired by Robert Burton's The Anatomy of Melancholy, the program explores how music can offer solace or consciously deepen melancholy.
The program features English keyboard works by John Bull, William Byrd, Orlando Gibbons, Thomas Tallis, and anonymous composers, complemented by deeply personal pieces by Johann Jakob Froberger. From artful polyphony to charming variations on folk melodies, the music sometimes leads us into melancholy, and at other times helps us break free from it.
Maxim Shalygin's contemporary work KHORA, composed specifically for this project, connects past and present, transforming the concert into a journey through time and emotions.
An evening that reveals how music touches, comforts, and connects us – and how it has the power to transform melancholy. Immerse yourself in sound, atmosphere, and expression!
