Eroica

The Musikkollegium Winterthur is always pleased to invite Swiss partner orchestras to Winterthur. In recent years, the Zurich University of the Arts Orchestra (ZHdK), the Swiss Orchestra, and the St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra have all been guests. Now, the argovia philharmonic is coming to the Eulach River for the first time. Founded in 1963 as the "Aargau Symphony Orchestra," it is the most important ensemble in the cultural canton of Aargau and belongs to the circle of professional orchestras in Switzerland. Since October 2021, it has had its own concert hall, the Alte Reithalle Aarau. However, the orchestra's performances are not limited to the cantonal capital; it also plays regularly in Baden, Muri, Rheinfelden, Zofingen, and Lenzburg.

Since the 2025/26 season, the Spaniard Josep Vicent has been the orchestra's principal conductor. With "El amor brujo," he brings a musical calling card from his homeland to Winterthur. Ginesa Ortega, a flamenco singer, and David Romero, a flamenco dancer, will provide an authentic interpretation. Ludwig van Beethoven's "Eroica," composed "in memory of a great man" after destroying the original dedication to Napoleon Bonaparte in disappointment, also evokes feelings of pride.
