With Carrot Revolution, Gabriella Smith celebrates the spirit of fresh observation: an encouragement to take new perspectives on old things, such as the string quartet, a genre some 250 years old. The Danish String Quartet, which has now achieved almost cult status, also exudes a veritable sonic revolution with its expressiveness, joy of playing, and stylistic diversity. Likewise, a richly evocative and expressive spectrum awaits discovery in Shostakovich's music, before Ravel's sound world transitions into refined restraint and playfully delicate lightness. An extraordinary quartet with an extraordinary program.
