Works by Telemann, Vivaldi, and Sammartini. The pronounced festive spirit of the Baroque era was one of the greatest muses of art history, for in aristocratic and bourgeois circles, the unshakeable rule was: no celebration without music. At opulent banquets and magnificent balls, company was always entertained by colorful instrumental music. Concert pieces enhanced the pleasures of the table, while brilliant trumpet fanfares lent a special brilliance to the opening and closing ceremonies of a Baroque festival. The concert takes place in St. Nicholas Church in Herznach, which impresses with its artistic furnishings. It is recognized as a building of national importance, and its chancel is considered one of the most charming spatial creations of the Swiss Late Baroque.
