For his second concert in the music village of Ernen, the internationally renowned Argentinian bass Nahuel Di Pierro has selected an Italian program. He chose three opera arias by Vivaldi and three by Handel, which convey very different characters.
In Vivaldi's "Gelido in ogni vena," we also hear music from Vivaldi's Violin Concerto "Winter," used in this case to illustrate the freezing of blood. Handel's aria "Come rosa in su la spina" is one of the most beautiful arias for bass ever written.
The concert is rounded out by a diverse selection of Italian Baroque music.
