OGZ Orchestra Society Zurich

OGZ Orchestra Society Zurich

The Zurich Orchestra Society (OGZ) was founded in 1947 by Zurich physician Dr. Marius Meng and is organized as an association. In its more than 60-year history, it has performed with world-renowned soloists.
Greats such as Daniel Barenboim, Teo Gheorghiu, and Maurizio Pollini performed with the OGZ in their early years. It consistently offers young artists concert opportunities and provides exceptional performance chances for well-trained amateur musicians.
Today, the Zurich Orchestra Society (OGZ) is an ambitious amateur symphony orchestra with approximately 60 musicians. Its repertoire encompasses the entire spectrum of symphonic works.
The orchestra is under the professional direction of Olivera Sekulic-Barac. The concertmaster, also a professional, is Kateryna Timokhina.
The OGZ performs at least once a year in the main hall of the Tonhalle Zurich and presents one or two additional programs in the Zurich region and throughout Switzerland. She regularly performs concerts, for example, in the Fraumünster and St. Peter churches in Zurich.
