Liechtenstein Court Music
The Liechtenstein Court Music was founded in 2006 – the 200th anniversary of Liechtenstein's sovereignty.
The name "Liechtenstein Court Music" (LHM) recalls the long tradition of musical patronage and cultural promotion by the nobility.
The Princely House of Liechtenstein also maintained its own court orchestra from the beginning of the 17th century until 1835.
The focus of the musical repertoire is on music from the 18th and early 19th centuries, the interpretation of which – although performed on classical-modern instruments – is guided by the knowledge and possibilities of historical performance practice.
The ensemble is also open to more recent styles. The piano sextets by Josef Gabriel Rheinberger and his star pupil Ludwig Thuille, performed with pianist Jürg Hanselmann, have been performed with great success.
The ensemble strives to perform in variable formations, both in established concert life, at exhibition openings, ceremonies, or in informal settings, for example in the tradition of baroque Tafelmusik.
