About the interview

Chamber Orchestra 65

Founded in 1965, the Chamber Orchestra 65 has enjoyed an excellent reputation in and beyond the Canton of Aargau for over 45 years. With our high-quality programs, we have delighted both large audiences and critics in recent years. We cultivate a broad musical spectrum from Baroque to contemporary music. As an independent orchestra whose members come from all over the Canton of Aargau, the Chamber Orchestra 65 does not receive support from a host municipality. However, in recognition of our artistic work, the Aargau Cultural Foundation has regularly supported us with multi-year grants in recent years.
Since January 2006, the Chamber Orchestra 65 has been under the direction of Alexandre Clerc, a young, highly talented conductor from French-speaking Switzerland. The concertmaster is Markus Lehmann (soloist diploma under Hansheinz Schneeberger).
In recent years, we have not only regularly performed works by contemporary composers but have also commissioned a total of seven new compositions. We also foster musical exchange across language barriers. In recent years, we have been able to perform regularly in French-speaking Switzerland.
For several years now, we have held an annual "Young Musicians' Podium," in which aspiring young musicians have the opportunity to perform as soloists with an orchestra for the first time.
