About the interview

Cantus Regio Thun

Cantus Regio Thun

CANTUS REGIO celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2009 with Bach's 'St. John Passion' and a staged performance of Haydn's 'The Seasons'. Since then, the biannual concerts have featured works such as Bach's 'Mass in B minor', K. Jenkins' 'The Armed Man', Verdi's 'Requiem', and Mendelssohn's 'Elijah'. In March 2014, G. Rossini's 'Stabat Mater' was performed, followed in autumn 2014 by John Rutter's 'Requiem'. In 2015, the choir performed J. Haydn's 'Paukenmesse' and Théodore Gouvy's 'Requiem'. In 2016, the choir performed Weber's Mass in G Major and Mendelssohn's Hymn of Praise, together with the Rapperswil Concert Choir . The choir comprises approximately 75 singers and is directed by Peter Loosli. It usually performs in the Thun City Church, the French Church, or the Bern Cultural Casino. Its repertoire includes standard works of classical choral music such as oratorios, passions, and masses. Occasionally, the choir also ventures into works by contemporary composers such as Bernard Reichel, John Rutter, Arthur Honegger, or Paul McCartney, and collaborates with other choirs on specific projects .
