Joy takes center stage in the Christmas symphony concert. John Rutter's music combines festive warmth with great vocal brilliance; Beethoven's "Ode to Joy" provides the grand seasonal reference point.

The Lucerne Symphony Orchestra performs together with the Lucerne Girls' Choir and the Lucerne Boys' Choir, the Klangwerk Lucerne Concert Choir, and the ChorTon Vocal Ensemble. For one evening, the KKL Lucerne becomes a space for a large Lucerne choral community.

Unlike the family concert at 6:00 p.m., this version also opens the evening with Beethoven's Fidelio Overture. This echoes another fundamental theme of the season: freedom, humanity, and the power of voices together.
