program

With oriental sounds, virtuosic violin passages, and a live broadcast from the Aarau City Church, the argovia philharmonic, under the direction of its chief conductor Josep Vicent, opens its new season. Composer-in-Residence Fazil Say transports the audience to a soundscape inspired by the tales of One Thousand and One Nights with his Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, "1001 Nights in the Harem." Spanish violinist Leticia Moreno takes on the role of musical narrator. Following this, Camille Saint-Saëns' most frequently performed Symphony No. 3, also known as the "Organ Symphony," will be performed. The composer masterfully blends organ and orchestra into a majestic sound. The finale, in particular, with its organ, powerful brass, and additional percussion, creates an overwhelming richness of sound. The organ, played by Ilja Völlmy, will be broadcast live with audio and video from the Aarau City Church.
