Rossini in Wildbad - Belcanto Opera Festival

The Rossini in Wildbad Opera and Music Festival was founded in 1989 to commemorate Gioachino Rossini's memorable spa visit in 1856. Since the end of 1991, it has been under the artistic direction of Jochen Schönleber, who later also assumed the role of general manager. Initially, it operated under the subtitle "The Musical Summer Festival." For many years now, it has been known internationally as the Belcanto Opera Festival. The festival is renowned worldwide for its rediscoveries of bel canto operatic repertoire and for its discovery of outstanding singers, which has resulted in numerous benchmark CD recordings.
