About the interview

Zurich Concert Choir

The Zurich Concert Choir is an ambitious amateur choir dedicated to classical music from various periods, primarily the Baroque and Classical eras. With over 100 singers, we are able to perform demanding choral works. Our artistic director, André Fischer, a professor at the Zurich University of the Arts, develops two to three programs annually with the choir, which are performed in renowned concert halls such as the Tonhalle Zurich and the KKL Luzern.

In addition to André Fischer, the choir has performed in recent years with the directors of the Zurich Chamber Orchestra (ZKO), Edmond de Stoutz, Howard Griffith, and Muhai Tang, as well as distinguished guest conductors including Marcus Creed, Diego Fasolis, Robert King, and Christopher Warren-Green.

The Zurich Concert Choir (ZKC) was founded in 1962 by Edmond de Stoutz, the director of the Zurich Chamber Orchestra (ZKO). Since then, in collaboration with the ZKO, it has performed approximately 100 concerts spanning a wide range of musical periods. The valuable and long-standing collaboration between both ensembles and their artistic directors continues into the new era under André Fischer.
