With four hands

The very first composition in his catalogue of works, the three-movement Fantasy for piano four hands in G major, was written by Franz Schubert at the tender age of 13. Even in his final year, 1828, he produced significant works for this genre, including the multifaceted Fantasy in F minor and the Allegro in A minor, known as "Lebensstürme" (Storms of Life). At his Schubertiades, Schubert himself would sit at the piano with a friend to perform his cheerful marches and polonaises, as well as his complex fantasies, in the privacy of his own salon. In Klosters, Sir András Schiff, together with the award-winning pianist Chloe Jiyeong Mun, will dedicate himself to this diverse and rarely heard repertoire. "Schubert's music is the most human I know—and the most personal," says Schiff, revealing his deep personal connection to this composer, a connection that will be palpable even when playing four hands.
