Three works, at least partially Viennese, written by young composers before their 20th birthday, make the final orchestral concert a musical celebration, brimming with energy.

In Franz Schubert's Rondo in A major, an elegant introduction is followed by a Viennese-capricious theme, a simpler dance theme, and a rousing orchestral tutti, which reappear repeatedly between virtuosic solo passages.

The majestically opening first movement of Mozart's Piano Concerto in E-flat major from 1784 captivates with its ambiguity between major and minor keys, while the exquisite beauty of the second movement lies in the blend of subtle melancholy and heavenly serenity typical of Mozart. The contrapuntal final movement reflects Mozart's study of the works of Bach and Handel.

George Enescu's Octet (as in Orchestral Concert 1) is a Parisian chamber music work from around 1900, expanded to orchestral size – a work that is essentially entirely developed from the elegantly elegiac opening melody, and whose four movements are structured as a large sonata form: After the exposition of three thematic complexes (1st movement), an explosive fugato and a kind of nocturne follow as development, before the recapitulation, as a wild waltz, brings together everything heard so far in the boldest counterpoint.
