Maki Namekawa interprets Keith Jarrett's legendary Köln Concert from 1975. It is not only a unique historical document but also a milestone in modern music history.
Instead of a large Bösendorfer concert grand, Jarrett had been given a small, out-of-tune practice instrument with sticking pedals and keys, and a lack of catering, sleep deprivation, and back pain hadn't exactly improved the mood of the legendary improviser. Jarrett played anyway, and the sound engineer present let the microphone run. A stroke of luck! Because the recording became the best-selling jazz and piano solo album.
Maki Namekawa interprets this famous improvisation in the music village of Ernen with meticulous attention to detail, creating a truly unique concert experience. Thanks to her virtuoso playing style, Namekawa brings the piece back to life.
