program

“The wonderful thing about being a musician is that you never arrive; you’re always searching.” – Valerie Steenken.

Beethoven, Dvořák, Enescu – three composers, three narrative styles, one stage brimming with legends. His Piano Quintet places Beethoven in direct dialogue with Mozart, including echoes of operatic themes and classically structured movements. Dvořák’s Dumky Trio draws on Slavic storytelling traditions: melodic episodes, like those from a folktale, unfold into personal reminiscences. The program concludes with Enescu’s monumental Octet, a dense tapestry of sound in which solo virtuosity meets orchestral vision, and motifs are condensed into a grand musical saga. A finale that does the Boswil Summer Festival proud!

Program:
Ludwig van Beethoven (1770–1827)
Quintet in E-flat major, Op. 16
Antonín Dvořák (1841–1904)
Piano Trio in E minor, Op. 90 “Dumky”
George Enescu (1881–1955)
Octet in C major, Op. 7
