program

This Advent matinee combines great romantic expressiveness with the splendor of Christmas colors. The first half centers on Antonín Dvořák's Cello Concerto – one of the most important works in the cello repertoire, expansive, lyrical, passionate, and richly orchestrated.

Kian Soltani, a prominent soloist of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, will be featured. His warm tone and natural musicality are perfectly suited to a work that never uses virtuosity for its own sake, but always draws its power from song, memory, and emotion.

After the intermission, Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker" Suite transports the audience to a fairytale Christmas world. Toy figures, sweets, and dancing fantasy characters come to life – from the Little Overture to the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Waltz of the Flowers.

Aivis Greters, a rising star of the younger generation, will conduct. This matinee combines late-Romantic richness, soloistic excellence, and evocative soundscapes for the Advent season.
